Christmas music take over Stureplan
From the first Sunday of Advent all the way until Christmas, Stockholmers will be able to enjoy Christmas music at Stureplan at Östermalm when the big screen spreads the Christmas spirit to passersby. Dancing around the large Christmas tree that stands in the square is prompted and the project has also become a part of #Stockholmsjul.
Christmas comes early to Östermalm this year. Every weekend from November 27 all the way up until Christmas Eve, Christmas music is played at Stureplan when Atracta choose to show Christmas spirit to passing winter visitors.
– We want to do our small part to create a great atmosphere in Winter Stockholm and make Stureplan a nice place to visit. Christmas music on the streets felt like a nicecontribution to raising the cosiness in December, says Johan Forssell.
The music will be heard every Saturday and Sunday until Christmas, and during the last week before Christmas, music will be played twelve hours a day for nine consecutive days. The project has also become part of the annual project #Stockholmsjul, initiated by the City of Stockholm, City I Samverkan and the property owners in Stockholm City, as one of the citys walking paths with Christmas lights pass Stureplan.
– The dream would be if people walking past start in dancing around the Christmas tree set in Stureplan. Just leave all the Christmas stress and meet their fellow people with a smile. We need more like that in these times. But if people get themselves a dose of Jingle Bells as they pass, it’s good enough for us, according to Johan Forssell.
